Job Duties Include
The County Surveyor, who must be a Kansas Licensed Professional Land
Surveyor, is responsible for overseeing land surveying activities,
including plat and survey reviews, boundary determinations, and public
land survey system (PLSS) maintenance. Additionally, the County Surveyor
will assist with the management of the design and construction of county
road and bridge projects, ensuring compliance with local, state, and
federal regulations. This position requires strong technical expertise,
leadership, and the ability to coordinate with various stakeholders.
This position involves a combination of office and fieldwork, requiring
technical proficiency in surveying, civil engineering, and
infrastructure development. The County Surveyor will interact with
landowners, developers, contractors, and government agencies to ensure
accurate survey work and successful road and bridge projects. The role
demands problem-solving, decision-making, and the ability to manage
multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to legal and regulatory
requirements. The County Surveyor works under the general supervision of
the County Engineer. This position may oversee and provide guidance to
survey crews, engineering technicians, and other personnel involved in
survey and infrastructure projects.

Determined Work Level : Level 3 Medium Work. Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of
force occasionally, and / or up to 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently,
and / or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly.
Ability to communicate ideas by means of the spoken word such as giving
assignments or directions. Possess eye / hand / foot coordination sufficient
to drive a vehicle. Ability to pick, pinch or otherwise work primarily
with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling.
Ability to climb ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like
using feet and legs and / or hands and arms. Ability to maintain body
balance to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, or running
on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces.
