  • About the Role

    The Preconstruction Manager leads all aspects of preconstruction, from conceptual estimating and cost planning to coordination with design teams, clients, and internal operations. This individual plays a key role in developing accurate budgets, preparing proposals, and ensuring that project expectations align with cost and schedule targets.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full preconstruction process from proposal through construction handoff
  • Oversee estimating efforts, cost modeling, and design coordination
  • Prepare detailed qualifications, exclusions, and scope documentation
  • Serve as the main client contact throughout preconstruction
  • Track design progress and market conditions to maintain budget alignment
  • Communicate cost or schedule changes to leadership with recommended solutions
  • Develop trade bid packages and coordinate subcontractor outreach
  • Conduct constructability reviews, value analysis, and bid comparisons
  • Support estimating staff in takeoffs, pricing, and proposal preparation
  • Maintain consistent use of estimating and preconstruction software systems
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in preconstruction or commercial construction estimating
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, materials, and market pricing
  • Skilled in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project
  • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
