Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A Special Education teaching position is available for grades 6-12 in a K-12 school setting located in Shepherd, MT. This contract-to-hire opportunity offers an 8 : 00 AM to 4 : 00 PM schedule, Monday through Friday, aligned with the academic calendar. The role involves working with a manageable caseload of 8-12 students, with some smaller classes of 4-5, due to a diverse range of offered courses including Vocational Agriculture, Woodworking, Physical Education, Art, Music, Business Education, Technology, Science, Social Studies, Mathematics, Special Education, and English.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to students needs
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with students, particularly those facing mental health challenges
  • Collaborate with staff and families to support student success across various subject areas
  • Maintain pliance with special education regulations and documentation requirements
  • Participate in training and professional development, including certification in Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP)

Qualifications :

  • Valid Special Education certification
  • Experience in IEP development and implementation
  • Ability to effectively engage students with mental health struggles
  • Willingness to obtain VIP certification focusing on de-escalation techniques and safe person-to-person restraints as needed
  • Strong munication and relationship-building skills
  • This position provides a balanced caseload that allows for meaningful instruction and student engagement in a supportive environment. The VIP certification enhances staff preparedness to manage challenging situations safely.
