BASIC FUNCTION : Provide academic and enrichment support to individuals or small groups of elementary or middle school students participating in the after school Bridge Program at an assigned site.
They are under the supervision of Lodi Unified School District Bridge Program Administrators. - Multiple Locations- two hour positions DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS : KNOWLEDGE OF : Basic aspects of the physical and emotional care of childrenBasic subjects taught in District schools, including arithmetic, grammar, spelling, language and readingSafe practices in classroom and playground activitiesIndoor and outdoor recreational and educational activities for school-aged childrenInterpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesyProper English usage, grammar, vocabulary, spelling and punctuationPositive behavior management techniques and discipline of childrenEffective record-keeping practices and procedures ABILITY TO : Tutor individual or small groups of students in a variety of academic subjectsDemonstrate an understanding, patient, respectful and receptive attitude toward students of all agesEstablish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with children and adultsMonitor and discipline students according to approved policies and proceduresEffectively supervise and care for children with varying degrees of development and needs in various activities Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of actionUnderstand and follow the curriculum guide for enrichmentMaintain confidentiality in all matters related to students EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE : Any combination equivalent to : high school diploma and increasingly responsible experience working with school aged children in an organized setting.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS :
- High School Diploma or Equivalent AND Proficiency Exam Certificate (Basic Skills Assessment Test)
- Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree or Higher Education Degree
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS / CERTIFICATES : If selected for the position, out-of-district applicants must be T.B. tested and fingerprinted.
A practical skills test may be administered at the time of interview.
