We are currently looking for an experienced Trust and Investment Officer to join First County Advisors, our growing wealth management team, at our headquarters in Stamford, CT.
In this role you will be responsible for managing a book of sophisticated trust and investment relationships. You will work closely with clients, prospects, advisors and the relationship team to provide superior client service by doing the right thing for our clients.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Maintains and cultivates existing client relationships and obtains new business opportunities for the Bank.
- Responsible for overseeing all aspects of the administration of trust and investment accounts within book of business, including but not limited to account opening, funding, distributions, investments, account closings, etc.
- Understands and effectively utilizes appropriate investments and strategies for taxable, qualified, and fiduciary account types.
- Ensures all client profiles are accurately maintained and updated, including ensuring all related account documentation is in good order.
- Develops new relationships externally through referrals from clients and Centers of Influence (COI), personal community involvement and internal business partners.
Leverages expertise and collaboration with internal team members to identify opportunities for expanding existing client relationships.
- Reviews governing instruments and prepares trust summaries as part of the initial review and onboarding process. Coordinates with client advisors on execution and funding.
- Maintains a holistic view of client assets and makes recommendations based on client's entire financial profile.
- Provides customized trust, estate, gift and tax planning strategies and solutions to clients by utilizing experience and knowledge of current trends and regulations.
- Serves as liaison between Bank clients and contracted investment management service providers.
- Prepares documents and follows through on all transactions.
- Accurately completes annual account and investment reviews.
- Reviews each business relationship at least annually to ensure compliance with trust terms, proper fee allocation, proper documentation, investment, etc.
- Ensures superior client experience through excellent communication with clients and their COIs, as well as internal team members.
- Keeps abreast of trends and regulatory changes. Proactively communicates with clients about current conditions in financial markets and necessary adjustments to their investment strategies and holdings consistent with established investment objectives.
- Effectively communicates portfolio recommendations to clients and their COIs.
- Constructs client portfolios in alignment with client's stated needs, goals and risk tolerance.
- Maintains liaison with internal business partners to monitor and coordinate status of prospective and existing customers.
- Exchanges relevant information about existing accounts; develops referral lists of potential trust / investment management customers;
attends and participates in periodic meetings.
- Completes and submits reports as required on sales calls.
- Maintains records of results of referrals from branches, other sources, and all prospecting efforts.
- Prepares and submits periodic sales, volume, and / or activity reports.
- Maintains current knowledge of all other Bank products and services; makes cross referrals to other departments as appropriate.
Requirements / Qualifications :
- Completion of a bachelor's degree in finance, business or related field or equivalent experience, plus 10 years of progressively responsible experience in trust and investment management are required
- Proven business development, relationship and portfolio management, and private banking / wealth management skills
- Strong sales and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Thorough knowledge of financial planning principles and practices, Trust and Investment products and services, including all applicable tax and other regulatory requirements
- Must have EQ and have the ability to identify the appropriate approach for each client
- Must be technologically astute with proficiency in MS Office / Office 365 application suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- CFA, CTFA, CPA and / or graduate degree (JD or MBA) preferred
- Involvement in community organizations a plus
Scope : Position has specific sales goals and is eligible for commissions based on an established commission plan.
Work Environment : Normal branch office environment; some local travel between branches required.
Physical Effort : Little or no exertion beyond that required to work in an office environment, communicate with customers and staff, and travel among locations.
Wage Range : $124,299 - $160,000
