Position Type : Full-time (35hours / week)
Pay range : $45+ / hour, paid weekly
Caseload : PreK-post grad
Duration : 2024-2025 school year
Responsibilities :
- Travel between several campuses.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments, tailored to their unique needs and learning goals.
- Provide direct instruction in core subjects, braille literacy, orientation and mobility, and other specialized areas to students with visual impairments.
- Adapt instructional materials and teaching strategies to acmodate various visual impairments and learning styles, ensuring equal access to educational content.
- Assess students' visual abilities, functional vision, and progress, and utilize assessment data to inform instructional planning and modify teaching strategies as necessary.
- Foster the development of independent living skills, self-advocacy, and assistive technology skills among visually impaired students.
- Provide consultation and guidance to school staff, parents, and caregivers on strategies and acmodations for supporting students with visual impairments.
- Maintain accurate and prehensive records of student progress, assessments, and services provided.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors or masters degree in education, Special Education, Visual Impairments, or a related field.
- Valid state teaching certification, with endorsement as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired.
- Previous experience working with students with visual impairments, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong knowledge of braille, specialized instructional strategies, and assistive technologies for students with visual impairments.
- Familiarity with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and the ability to develop and implement effective IEPs.
- Excellent munication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
