Job Description

Essential Duties & Responsibilities :

• Perform oversight of construction activity on behalf of the client, report on contractor regulatory and contract safety compliance.
• Monitor compliance to all current OSHA requirements that relate to the specific construction projects.
• Perform daily safety reviews of work in progress in accordance with current Safety Regulations and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
• Monitor adherence to Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP) requirements and procedures.
• Support the Program Safety Manager, including but not limited to, attending any required meetings, or providing safety reports / analysis as requested.
• Attend construction meetings with college project team and general contractor, leading the safety topic (toolbox), report on site observations, and review upcoming construction schedule for hazard preparedness.
• Perform ongoing construction site safety inspections and generate daily safety reports for all site visits.
• Submit weekly Project Health Safety and Environmental Observation Report to Project Manager.
• Perform ongoing review, for completion and accuracy, of contractor safety submittals.
• Perform review of contractor submitted incident reports, participate in safety stand-downs, and prepare and submit lessons learned to Program Safety Manager.
• Perform and document safety orientation with contractor safety representative.
• Monitor adherence to zero tolerance and corrective action policy for workers found not in compliance with the Program's safety policy.
• Flexibility in schedule and transportation to work at multiple sites based on assigned schedule and duties throughout the greater Los Angeles area.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, establish daily work priorities, and perform oversight at multiple active construction projects.
• Good written and oral communication skills.

Minimum Required Qualifications :

• Minimum 10 years of experience in construction safety.
• Minimum 5 years of managing multiple projects in different stages of construction at multiple jobsite locations.
• Minimum 5 years field experience as Construction Safety Consultant working with General Contractors and Subcontractors.
• Experience working with OCIP.
• Experience with DSA.
• Experience with Safety Management for Public Sector Construction.
• Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification.
• Current OSHA 500 certification.
• Current First Aid / CPR / AED Certification.
• Valid Safety Management Specialist (SMS) or Certified Safety Manager Construction (CSMC) certificate.
• Experience on modernization-type projects involving asbestos and lead-based paint disturbance.
• Extensive knowledge and experience with senior safety management with large building programs across multiple sites.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related spreadsheet and database software.

Preferred Qualifications :

• Construction management, safety management, safety engineer or related degree is preferred.
• Additional safety / health certifications and credentials as appropriate for this position.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including education, qualifications, experience, and geographic location.

The Salary range for this position is $86,500-$101,500.
