Network Engineer -VP - Salt Lake City

Our client is a Global Financial Services located in Salt Lake City. They are seeking a Vice President Frontline Resolution Network Engineer based in Salt Lak City.

Frontline Resolution is responsible for maintaining and supporting the firm's global network infrastructure. We engage and work with multiple carriers and hardware vendors.

Troubleshooting, resolving incidents, providing RCA and recommendation to clients. Execute break fix changes to remediate hardware failure to normalize the environment.

Complete ownership of resolution for Sev1, Sev2 and critical Sev3 incidents and client escalations.

An Individual in this role will be part of a diverse global network frontline engineering team responsible for production support, monitoring the global network, break fixes, carrier and vendors engagement and escalation.

Product life cycle management for the network infrastructure, including both internal and external connectivity. Provide production support for the Firm's global network and manage the product lifecycle for the network infrastructure, including both internal and external connectivity.

• This will include monitoring carrier and vendor engagement and escalations and executing break fix changes to remediate hardware failure and normalize the environment 70% of time ;
• Monitor operational stability of the global network leveraging in-depth understanding of core networks, comprising of multivendor Enterprise and various security platform network gears such as Routers, switches, firewalls, proxies, (Virtual Private Networks) VPNs, Load balancers, IPS (Intrusion Preventive Systems) and IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems).
• Responsible for Tier 1 sensitive setups like trading floors, Internal Core network, SRP (Secure resource pool), Demilitarized zone (DMZ's), Business to Business (B2B) networks, client and vendor connecting zones, multicast setups and leverage core domain knowledge to quickly resolve issues and provide workaround for the teams that limit the impact for the firm.
• Handle technical escalation and uplift the team's core skills and SME skills in critical areas like firms DDOS (Distributed Denial of Service) protection and tier1 critical application flow understanding.
• Collaborate with other core engineering teams on various technical discussion / decision like PDLC (product Development Life Cycle), device certification, test / integrate / feedback for new platform devices and engineer product from operational standpoint.
• Troubleshoot complex Network issues in conjunction with global SME's from other infrastructure teams.
• Work with HPNA (configuration management tools) and various in house built tools.
• Work with all technical vendors (cisco, Juniper, Broadcom, Citrix, Palo alto etc.) to review the cases that was raised and chase them for RCA's
• Coordinate with vendor for post mortem and remediate the plat or escalate internal teams for remediation and document for senior mgmt. for review.
• Provide technical guidance to junior team members who will be required to be quick to react complex issues and understand all critical setup to support.
• Constantly train the team on new technologies for both technical and functional and define process that helps the team.
• Write up technical documentation of root cause analysis and post mortem for senior management like CIOs in firm.
• As part of a global network frontline engineering team, collaborate with cross platform teams on technologies including voice, multimedia, market data, trading, storage, information security, and data center, to maintain and monitor the operation of the firm's global network infrastructure 15% of time ;
• Maintain accurate network diagrams, inventory, and documentation for network infrastructure 5% of time ;
• Have complete ownership of resolution for Sev1, Sev2 and critical Sev3 incidents and client escalations 10% of time ; and
• Utilize networking technologies and various network protocols including TCP / IP, network management tools, routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls, carrier circuits, and ethernet all-encompassing

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS :

• Minimum Bachelor's degree
• Excellent debugging and trouble shooting skills
• Strong background in Packet Capture tools and analysis
• Understanding of networking technologies, and protocols. (TCP / IP, Routing, Switching, VLANs, Firewalls, Carrier Circuits, Ethernet)
• Technical experience using any of the following : Cisco Routers & Switches, Nexus, ASR, ISR product lines, Cisco IOS, NX-OS, Juniper and Netscreen firewalls, GRE / IPSec
• Experience troubleshooting network connectivity and various network protocols - LAN, WAN, MAN, BGP. OSPF, TCP.
• Knowledge and experience working with network management tools - network monitoring, splunk etc.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Highly self-motivated and the ability to work independently as well as in a global team environment.
• Good communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
• This job requires individual to work on one of the weekend as part of the shift assignment. (Example Sun - Thu or Tue - Sat)

Preferred Qualifications :

• Experience working in the finance industry and an enterprise network
• Experience automating Network functions is a plus.
