Operations Manager Job Description
Job Summary :
The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the manufacturing floor, ensuring efficient and effective production processes, maintaining high quality and safety standards, and managing operational staff.
Key Responsibilities :
Operational Management :
- Supervise daily production and manufacturing, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Develop and implement strategies for efficient use of materials, labor, and equipment to meet production targets.
- Monitor and adjust production schedules as needed to meet deadlines and optimize workflow.
Labor Relations :
- Maintain a positive working relationship with union representatives and ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements.
- Participate in union negotiations and discussions as required.
Quality and Safety :
- Ensure that all products meet established quality standards and specifications.
- Implement and enforce health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
Team Leadership :
- Lead, coach, and develop operational staff to meet performance goals and encourage continuous improvement.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to employees.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and ongoing improvement.
Financial Management :
- Monitor expenses and identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Report on key operational and financial metrics to local senior management.
- Implement strategies to enhance efficiency and profitability.
Continuous Improvement :
- Lead initiatives aimed at process improvement and productivity enhancement.
- Apply lean manufacturing principles and other methodologies to drive operational optimization.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 7-10 years of experience in an operations or manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years in a management role.
- Experience in a unionized environment.
- Strong knowledge of operational processes, quality control, and safety standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in operations software and Microsoft Office Suite.
