Counselor I (Family Based Counseling)

Diakon Behavioral Health Services offers a range of counseling and behavioral services to children, teens, families and adult individuals. Services are provided through counseling centers in Mechanicsburg, Lewisburg, Montoursville, Williamsport, within several public-school buildings and Chester County. Specialized programs include family-based mental health services, provided in the community and in-home, addiction counseling, trauma-focused therapy and SPIN, a service designed to assist children and youths who have problematic sexual behaviors.

General Responsibilities :

  • Develops and maintains a professional and supportive relationship with youth and their families by providing therapeutic interventions.
  • Provides individual, couple, family and / or group therapy sessions.
  • Completes monthly treatment plan updates and required paperwork and
  • Provides crisis management services as needed.

Education / Training : Masters Degree in human services (psychology, social work, mental health counseling or related field) is required.

Experience : A minimum of two (2) years’ of experience in related positions normally required.

ADA : Ability to sit, stand, lift, bend, reach, push, and pull items weighing up to 50 lbs.; visual and auditory skills
