Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Program Officer 1 for UNR Extension- Clark County. This position is located in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The purpose of this job is to administer projects in the Healthy Food Systems program. This position will assist faculty in conducting a quasi-experimental impact study to provide the evidence base on an emerging curriculum.

This position will also assist in drafting manuscripts to publish the results of the study, assist in developing a teacher training workshop, as well as conducting the pilot test to develop an innovative and novel early childhood assessment tool under the direction of the Healthy Food Systems faculty.

This position will be responsible for program reporting requirements as well as outreach and marketing.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, or other discipline related to the program assignment; OR

Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of para-professional program support experience equivalent to an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service which required the application of State and / or federal laws, policy and procedures;

reviewing documents prepared by others for program compliance determinations; or preparing reports which summarize financial and statistical information; OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

A valid Class C Nevada driver’s license or higher operator’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

Schedule

The typical schedule is Monday through Friday from 8 : 00am to 5 : 00pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.

Compensation Grade

Grade 31 (Entry, Step 01 $26.07 / hr Step 03 $28.38 / hr)

In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity and budgets.

A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
