ESL Coordinator

Position Summary :
LaAmistad is seeking a dynamic and organized ESL Coordinator to support the delivery of in-person and online English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for adults. The ESL Coordinator will work closely with the Associate Director to oversee day-to-day operations, support volunteers, manage student engagement, and ensure the ESL program's overall effectiveness and growth.
This is a part-time position requiring between 20–25 hours per week , with availability on evenings and Saturdays as needed.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead training and onboarding of new volunteer ESL instructors
- Provide ongoing technical and instructional support to volunteer teachers
- Oversee student placement and administer pre / post assessments
- Maintain accurate registration and student data in program systems
- Manage communication and logistics for students and volunteers
- Observe ESL classes and provide constructive feedback to teachers and program leadership
- Serve as substitute teacher when needed
- Assist with class materials, copies, and general classroom support
- Drive strategic initiatives to expand and improve the ESL program
- Resolve conflicts or concerns with professionalism and timeliness
- Support the delivery of corporate or private ESL classes as needed
- Monitor and report on program metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Respond to inquiries related to the ESL program
- Represent LaAmistad at staff meetings and community events
- Communicate program changes and updates clearly to stakeholders
- Oversee student recruitment and program marketing efforts
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders
Qualifications :
TESOL certification or currently working toward certificationExperience teaching adult ESL learnersStrong interpersonal and leadership skillsExperience working with or managing volunteers (preferred)Ability to collaborate with individuals of diverse backgrounds and personalitiesCultural competence and sensitivity to the needs of immigrant familiesAvailability for evening and weekend events as neededProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Valid driver’s license and reliable transportationCommitment to LaAmistad’s mission and valuesDesired Skills and Attributes :
