About the role

As a Senior UX Researcher within our Enterprise UX Team, you’ll be at the forefront of Target’s evolving digital experience, shaping it for our guests and team members and contributing to business growth. You will plan, execute, and synthesize research to create actionable insights for the cross functional product development team, translating research data into stories that help shape Target’s products. This role partners with product managers, UX designers, engineers, data scientists, content designers, accessibility consultants, and site merchandisers. As one of the founding researchers on our Commercial Merchandising UX Research Team, you’ll work on the product lifecycle experience to create a connected product and guest experience for Target’s Owned Brands. You will help evolve Target’s digital experience supporting vendor partners, shaping it with ease, simplicity and growth for businesses to sell their products with Target. You’ll use human-centered design thinking to deepen our understanding of vendors’ experience, needs, and pain points with a focus on the end-to-end experience. You’ll work with a cross-functional team to develop new ways of onboarding, engaging, and supporting the products we sell.

As a member of the team, you will contribute to advancing the broader practice of UX at Target through influence, impact, and craft, while educating cross-functional teams as needed. We are an engaged, supportive, and increasingly diverse team focused on elevating the impact of our discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Use your skills, experience, and talents to be a part of groundbreaking thinking and visionary goals
  • Take the lead in the Owned Brands space as you conduct and synthesize qualitative and quantitative research projects, such as in-person and remote moderated and unmoderated testing, surveys, heuristic reviews, benchmark studies, concept testing, online and in-store intercepts, ethnographies
  • Utilize both quantitative and qualitative research methods and know when to use one or the other
  • Support product teams throughout the research project life cycle – recommending appropriate methodology, scoping, and coordinating the entire process, facilitating in-field research and post-research synthesis through analysis
  • Assist the broader UX Research team in keeping our ongoing research library up-to-date and comprehensive
  • Contribute to a culture of human-centered practice within UX, product, and engineering teams
  • Navigate complexity and ambiguity delivering impact for guests, team members, and the business

Qualifications

  • Preferred 4-year degree in Anthropology, Social Science, Design Research, Psychology, Human Factors, HCI, or related field
  • Experience in UX Research methods, including remote moderated and unmoderated testing, online and in-context (store) intercepts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to cross-functional partners
  • Genuine curiosity about people and experiences
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable speaking to a diverse group of people and leading conversations to discover research insights
  • A strong ability to tell compelling stories from data
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and the ability to prioritize; demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities
  • Strong project management skills – experience managing multiple projects at various stages in the product design life cycle
  • Experience recruiting, moderating and analyzing online panels and thinking strategically about their application
  • Proficient in PowerPoint, Outlook, Word and other MS Office software
  • Work Arrangement

    This position will operate as a Hybrid / Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. The core role may be performed onsite at Target HQ in MN and virtually, depending on daily requirements. Work duties must be performed within the United States unless otherwise specified by Target.
