Job Id : 389 # of Openings : 1 Assistant Controller Mortgage (Full Time) Baton Rouge, LA Job Description : The Assistant Controller, works directly under the direction of the Controller, is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting activities, preparing financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), budget preparation and analysis, as well as development of accounting policies and procedures.
Job Duties & Responsibilities :
- Support all aspects of accounting (General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Warehouse Lending and Hedging)
- Manage journal entries, invoices, etc. and reconcile accounts for the monthly closing process
- Responsible for the preparation and analysis of financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Proficient in identifying and resolving issues
- Participate in annual forecasting and budget preparation
- Work directly with external auditors on annual financial and compliance audits
- Prepare quarterly regulatory reporting
- Prepare annual tax forms related to loan servicing
- Provide strategic support for new projects
Job Requirements & Skills :
- Bachelors degree in Accounting
- 5-7 years of accounting experience required
- CPA and / or mortgage / banking accounting experience preferred
- Strong work ethic and reliable
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines
- Excellent communication skills for day to day written and verbal contact with all levels in the organization
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
