IL Department of Nuclear Safety License Job Description : Prepare room, equipment, medicine, and materials as needed for patients.
- Clean and disinfect imaging room and equipment.- Prepare and administer barium and other contrast material mixtures for X-rays.
- Prepare patients for imaging procedures : verify identification, explain procedures, transfer and position patients, assist them after procedures.
- Use standard communication protocols to greet patients and visitors, ensuring accurate identification.- Report symptoms of pain as necessary and adjust procedures until the patient's pain relief goal is reached.
- Follow prescribed techniques in administering general and specific X-rays, including equipment adjustments and patient positioning.
- Administer radiation imaging scans using appropriate protocols.- Perform specialized scans such as CT angiography and biopsy procedures.
- Develop film following photographic techniques.- Observe patients and machines during procedures, report unusual occurrences, and record patient conditions.
- Comply with department and hospital policies and procedures.- Maintain stock supplies and perform general office duties.
- Inspect emergency crash carts and maintain daily logs.- Operate mobile X-ray units in various hospital departments.- Prescribe ionizing radiation under supervision.
- Assist the chief technician in maintaining procedure protocols.- Transport patients as needed.- Conduct quality control procedures on diagnostic imaging equipment.
- Use hospital information systems efficiently for order entry, requisitions, and patient profiles.- Regularly check and clean equipment, report malfunctions immediately.
- Practice radiation safety procedures for self and patients.- Use aseptic techniques and follow infection control procedures.
- Maintain composure and decisiveness in critical situations.- Adhere to hospital dress code and confidentiality protocols.
- Complete and submit incident reports promptly.- Demonstrate knowledge of safety and proper body mechanics.- Maintain familiarity with human anatomy and imaging principles.
- Prioritize effectively in multiple situations.- Attend mandatory trainings and participate actively in workplace improvements.
- Foster positive relationships and teamwork within the department.- Safely perform duties, improving patient and employee safety, and reducing potential risks.
- Communicate effectively and ethically with colleagues and patients.- Be prepared to assist in various department functions, including receptions and clerical tasks.
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in scheduling and work interruptions.
