Under the supervision of the Director of Contract Training and Community Development, each instructor has as his / her chief duty the instruction of assigned classes.
This duty takes precedence over all others. Each instructor should make every effort to be present and on time for each assigned class meeting, and prepared for class to the best of his / her ability.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Possess a valid AR CDL driver’s license and have at least a high school diploma or GED.
- Have completed a First Aid Class within the last 3 years.
- Be at least 21 years old.
- 6 semester hrs. driver education, or 72 clock hours of documented driver training, or minimum of 7 years directly related experience directly related to the program being taught (such as, but not limited to : experience in law, enforcement investigating of accidents
- License not suspended, canceled, revoked, or denied within past 36 months.
- Current DOT Physical -medical card or able to successfully acquire before acceptance of position.
- No more than eight (8) point violations on driving record
- Willingness to teach or learn to teach in person & online.
- Demonstrated professional oral and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills appropriate for various audiences / stakeholders.
- Ability to plan, organize, and implement responsibilities effectively.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, other professionals, staff, and the public.
- Demonstrated integrity in fiscal management of company funds (i.e.- procurement, fuel purchase, contracts).
- Ability to plan, develop and implement the necessary curriculum. 1+ years over- the-road driving experience.
- Mid to Expert proficiency / experience in the development of materials and media for online learning.
- Proficient in general maintenance usually obtained through over the road driving or training.
- Current CDL B with minimum P and S endorsements, willing to obtain additional endorsements.
- Mid to Expert proficiency in interpretation and application of FMSCA regulations and Driver Qualification requirements for training compliance.
Salary Range $23- $25 per hour
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- 1+ years over-the-road driving experience.
- Experience in the development of materials and media for online learning is a plus.
Information Technology abilities required
- Ability to operate a personal computer using the Windows environment.
- Ability to operate a personal computer within a Network environment.
- Ability to use electronic mail for general replies, scheduling and filing.
- Ability to perform basic student database functions.
- Ability to perform basic word processing using MS Word.
- Ability to perform basic spreadsheet functions using MS Excel.
- Ability to perform basic presentation functions using MS PowerPoint.
Working Environment
- Position is outside more than inside and changes throughout the workday. Consists of indoors in a classroom / lab environment or outside in a truck or on a backing lot with high exposure to temperature changes, noise, dust, and / or chemicals.
- Normal college working hours but adjustment of hours involving evening and / or weekend work may be required from time to time.
- Other schedule adjustments may occur to accommodate new programs with existing or new customers.
- A neat appearance and appropriate business-like apparel are required.
