Education :
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technician program is required.
Experience / Qualifications :
- American Heart Association BLS for Heath Care Provider is required.
- One year experience as CVOR Surgical Technician is required.
- Certification as a Surgical Technician is required.
Position Summary
- The Scrub Technician performs scrub duties throughout the surgical procedure as part of the surgical team. A scrub tech works under the direction of a registered nurse.
- Scrub techs assist the nurse specialty leader in maintaining surgeon preferences for listed surgical procedures.
- Maintain a current knowledge of all new procedures and equipment associated with the specialty and assist other team members as needed.
- The Scrub Tech leadership role requires continuous competency review, the development of new competencies as technology changes, and outstanding teamwork with the Registered Nurse specialty leader.
In order to achieve excellence in patient care and physician satisfaction, the RN and scrub tech specialty must work together.
- In addition to the above, performs other duties as assigned.
