Responsibilities
- Manage R&D team to advance scientific development and technology success
- Manage scientific priorities and projects to ensure consistent progress toward carbon removal milestones
- Oversee R&D work with the lab to streamline learnings from geochemical lab work
- Ensure development and accuracy of MRV procedures to support milestone completion
- Design experiments to answer key questions on technology development and analyses of carbon removal
- Provide direction and scientific feedback on experimental execution to R&D team to ensure rigorous results
- Foster collaboration and employee development within the R&D team
- Coordinate with Head of Operations to ensure rigorous data capture, results reporting, and adoption of systems and process to ensure team communication, learning, and scale
- Define and comply with technical standards, SOP, and equipment maintenance.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in geochemistry, biogeochemistry, or similar field
- Management experience building and leading a team
- Extensive experience in field and lab work
- Capable of lifting up to 15 lbs
- Startup mindset where adaptability, creativity, agility, and execution are keys to success
- Strong desire to fight climate change
Bonus Qualifications
- 1-2 successful postdoctoral positions in related fields
- Experience in startups and early-stage technologies
- Reactive transport modeling using e.g., PHREEQC or The Geochemist’s Workbench
