Packaging Associate Line Driver
Position Summary
The 3rd Shift, Packaging Associate Line Driver is responsible for managing daily tasks to meet packaging schedules. He / she is responsible for loading and unloading trucks and trailers at the brewerys loading docks, as well as maintaining a steady supply of packaging materials to all packaging lines (bottles, cans, cardboard and kegs) throughout the shift.
The Packaging Associate Line Driver is an important ambassador for the Southern Tier brand.
This position requires a 3rd shift work schedule, hours are 10pm - 6am*
Reports to : Packaging Supervisor
Key Responsibilities
- Ensures that all daily packaging activities on the bottling, can and keg lines in Lakewood are executed safely and in accordance with SOPs
- Responsible for unloading raw materials and packaging materials, and loading finished products onto trucks and trailers and the brewery loading docks
- Responsible for maintaining a stead supply of packaging materials to all packaging lines (glass, cans, cardboard and kegs)
- Responsible for performing manual packaging operations, as needed(hand packing, hand stacking)
- Performs miscellaneous tasks and projects as directed by the Packaging Supervisor, including, but not limited to; cleaning, painting, disposing of old product, assembling packaging, taking inventory, light maintenance, etc.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Minimum one year of experience as a Packaging Associate or equivalent
- Minimum one year of experience operating a powered ride on fork truck or equivalent
- Familiarity with brewery safety programs and priority commitment to worker safety
- An understanding of brewery sanitation and food safety programs
- An understanding of packaging equipment operation
- Ability to operate a fork truck and obey all safety requirements
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to multitask
- Strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism
Physical Requirements
- Occasionally sit or stand for long periods of time
- Frequently sit, stand, walk, bend over, twist, kneel, climb, stoop and crouch. This position requires the ability to routinely and repeatedly lift up to 55 pounds and maneuver 170 pounds repeatedly
- Use their hands to perform fine manipulation, handle or feel, and must be able to reach with their hands and arms
- Frequently operate the fork trucks to load and unload raw materials, packaging materials and finished products to and from trucks and trailers at the loading docks
- Safely and properly handle hazardous materials in various size quantities, and operate complex moving machinery
Work Environment
The Packaging Associate Line Driver must safely operate in areas of the facility with a high concentration of employee foot traffic.
While performing the duties of the job, the Packaging Associate Line Driver is regularly exposed to a damp, wet environment with hot liquids, airborne particles, chemicals and moving machinery.
There can be loud noise levels, and protective eyewear is required on the production floor at all times and seatbelts must be worn whenever operating the fork trucks.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
