Advanced Practice Provider (PA / NP) - Hybrid, Trauma & Acute Care Surgery

Position Description :

The Medical College of Wisconsin's Department of Surgery is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide primary or specialty medical care within defined scope of practice under the supervision of a licensed physician and in accordance with MCW / FMLH / CHW policies and procedures.

The APP will have a strong foundation in evidence-based practice and ensure an environment of safe quality care.

In this role you will be responsible for the following :

• Performs comprehensive histories and physical exams, identifies normal and abnormal findings, including physical, cognitive and psychosocial status.
• Orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests.
• Develops pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans.
• Monitors effectiveness of plan of care.
• Educates patients on disease and treatment plans.
• Performs procedures as trained and appropriately credentialed.
• Documents within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and completes other necessary documents.
• Collaborates and / or consults with physicians and other health care providers as appropriate.
• Educates, counsels, and assists patients and families regarding current health problems, health maintenance activities and preventive behaviors.

Minimum Education :

Advanced Practice Nurse : Master's Degree or higher in Nursing

Physician Assistant : Bachelor's Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies

Minimum Requirements :

Advanced Practice Nurse Physician Assistant

Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner Wisconsin Physician Assistant License

Wisconsin RN License Certification by NCCPA

Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber License

Acute Care Certification

AHA BCLS, AHA ACLS, DEA, ATLS (will train) and CITI Certification to be completed within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Experience :

Previous APP acute care experience preferred
