Ops Residence Life Acuho-I Intern
During the summer, the Ops Residence Life ACUHO-I Intern provides services and housing in our residence halls and apartments to a wide variety of conference groups. These groups include youth sports camps, academic and educational workshops for adults, Eagle View Orientation, etc. Responsibilities include supervising check-ins and check-outs, ensuring rooms are prepared for guest arrival, monitoring and auditing keys and linen inventory, completing billing paperwork, working with conference sponsors and other departments within the university. Interns will meet and learn from a wide variety of individuals, including the leadership team of the Office of Housing & Residence Life. In addition, interns will have the opportunity to meet with key leaders within Florida Gulf Coast University.
Typical duties include but are not limited to :
- Attend all student staff training sessions.
- Prepare agendas and conduct weekly meetings with conference staff.
- Conduct weekly one-on-one meetings with Conference Assistants to make sure they are planning ahead and handling all of the various duties they must complete for each of their conferences.
- Schedule conference check-ins / check-outs with the appropriate number of student staff.
- Be present at all conference check-ins / check-outs in order to ensure unanticipated issues can be resolved quickly and efficiently.
- Respond to after-hours emergencies on an on-call basis.
- Prepare and distribute conference participant information to key university staff members.
- Inspect conference rooms prior to participant arrival to assure rooms are clean and ready.
- Report maintenance and housekeeping issues to Facilities and follow-up.
- Coordinate multi-purpose room set-ups and breakdowns.
- Prepare welcome packets for conference guests.
- Inventory conference supplies and notify the appropriate staff member when supplies run low.

Required Qualifications :
An interest in the field of University Student Housing or Student Affairs is required of the interns.Valid driver's license.Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.Preferred Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Knowledge of navigating policy enforcement.Possess excellent communication and organizational skills.Ability to present a positive, mature, and professional attitude to guests and staff.Ability to demonstrate self-reliant, adaptable and resourceful decision-making skills.Ability to navigate stairs to access 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th floor of residential apartments / residence halls.Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.Ability to work on nights and / or weekends.
