Non-exempt; part-time / on-call coverage (up to a possible 40 hrs / wk); varying shifts between 5 : 00 a.m. - 10 : 30 p.m.; Monday - Saturday; grant-funded; no-benefits; New hires must complete 40 hours of in-office training within their first 30 days. Accommodations will be considered for those with secondary employment.
Saturday Shift Differential morning shift = additional $3.00 per hour; afternoon shift = additional $5.00 per hour; evening shift (after 5 p.m. Monday - Saturday) = additional shift premium of $0.62 applies.
Additional Differential - The base rate of pay for this position is $18.33 per hour; however, is eligible to earn a $2.50 differential, making the current rate of pay $20.83 per hour. The $2.50 pay differential is dependent on a separate funding source and is subject to change based on that funding source.
This person operates a minivan, minibus, shuttle bus or other transit vehicle to transport the general public, older adults and persons with disabilities (including ambulatory and non-ambulatory). Supervision is received from the Operations Supervisor and / or the Operations Manager.

Essential Duties And Job Responsibilities
- Transport customers within Frederick County on paratransit and fixed routes
- Assist passengers in boarding and departing the vehicle when necessary and assist them with parcels or other items
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Wash, clean, and fuel the assigned vehicle and perform minor maintenance functions
- Record and report needed repairs to supervisors
- Record and report mileage, logs, and ridership
- Maintain a daily activity trip activity / summary and other related reports
- Participate in job-related training and seminars
- Serve on staff committees; attend monthly driver meetings
- As needed, secure wheelchairs and other objects for safe transport
- Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications And Requirements
Possession of a valid automobile operator's operator's license copy of current driving record is required at time of interviewAbility to maintain County Authorized Driver privilegesAbility to satisfy all Department of Transportation requirements as they apply to periodic physical examinations and licensing standardsAbility and willingness to learn First Aid, CPR and other job-related skills, and to maintain current certificationsKnowledge of Maryland state and local traffic laws and regulationsKnowledge of roads and communities in the Frederick County area, and able to read maps and follow directionsAccurate math and clerical skills, with the ability to properly complete mileage and vehicle use reports and other departmental record-keepingEffective spoken and written (English) communication skills, including the ability to effectively use telephone and utilize two-way radio communications in compliance with FCC regulations, and the ability to accurately follow written and spoken instructions and effectively convey information to passengersAbility and willingness to learn to operate all fleet vehiclesAbility and willingness to work in varied driving conditions, as long as the weather has not caused service to be suspendedAbility to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the general publicPreference may be given for : Driving experience transporting passengers
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
Physical requirements include the ability to assist persons as they board and depart the vehicle, to secure wheelchairs on board, and to perform general vehicle maintenanceWhile working in this position, the employee is constantly sitting, walking, pushing and pulling up to and over 40 pounds, reaching and driving; frequently climbing, stooping, kneeling and crouching, and making repetitive motions; occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds.While working in this position, the employee is constantly working outdoors, in hot temperatures above 100 degrees, in cold temperatures below 32 degrees, frequently walking on uneven ground and exposed to noise; occasionally indoors, potentially exposed to infectious diseases and required to wear protection equipment.Additional Information / Examination Process
