POSITION SUMMARY :
Residing in ECSs Interim Housing Department, the Re-Entry Interim Housing Program provides welcoming, safe and secure temporary housing for people returning from incarceration.
Reporting into the Re-Entry Program Manager, the Interim Housing Monitor ensures the well-being, safety and security of participants overnight.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE INTERIM HOUSING MONITOR :
- Provide overnight supervision of the housing environment and support to guests during the overnight hours of 10pm-6 : 30am.
- Responsible for check-in and check-out of all participants.
- May assist with basic needs support such as food, laundry, and hygiene supplies
- Communicate with Re-Entry Manager concerning overnight activities and guest support needs
- Attend trainings and staff meetings
- Maintain all required documentation and charts
- Monitor and ensure overall safety and security of participants and housing environments.
- Provide crisis intervention, de-escalation, conflict resolution, and apply behavioral agreements using a restorative justice approach.
- Maintain program documentation and charts.
- Attend all required organizational and community meetings and professional development trainings.

Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS :
- High school diploma or equivalency.
- Lived experience of homelessness or incarceration desired.
- Understands principles and practices of restorative justice approach to the criminal justice system.
- Clearance to work in the program from CDCR
- Willingness to run errands as necessary.
- Experience working with individuals in crisis or unstable housing situations.
- Demonstrated respect for, experience with and willingness to work with a diverse workforce and participant population.
- Professional and discreet demeanor with good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information and use of tact, respect, discretion and judgement.
- Experience working in integrated service teams using participant-centered, trauma-informed, harm-reduction approaches.
- Commitment to ECSs mission and to its organizational values.
- The ability to quickly assess and respond to a variety of situations, including medical emergencies, conflict resolution and intervention, and other participant emergencies.
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to changes as this program responds to lessons learned and emerging needs.
OTHER :
Must secure finger image screening and annual TB screening. Must be able to meet physical requirements of the position which may include standing, sitting, walking, reaching, bending, twisting, pulling and lifting up to 30 pounds.
