Machine Operator for 2nd Shift, 2 : 00 PM to 10 : 00 PM, Monday thru Friday, with some mandatory Saturdays (overtime).

Produce high quality parts by overseeing all aspects of the thermoforming process. Meet or exceed all targets in safety, quality, scrap, and efficiency through continuous monitoring of the process while making minor to intermediate skill level adjustments as needed.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES :

• Certifications and Training :
• Review and comprehend instructions on the Quality Requirement Sheet (QRS)
• Train as Product Auditor and cover as necessary
• Complete Machine Operator Front and Machine Operator Back training
• Operate pallet jack
• Achieve walk behind electric stacker certification, operate, and perform and record inspections
• Achieve lockout / tagout certification
• Area of Responsibility :
• Responsible for up to 5 (five) thermoformers when carrying out Front responsibilities
• Responsible for up to 8 (eight) thermoformers when carrying out Back responsibilities
• Responsible for up to 3 (three) thermoformers when carrying out Front and Back responsibilities
• Maintain workflow, as to not disrupt production; reducing downtime :
• Stock machine centers with raw materials
• Monitor staged material stock levels
• Perform plastic roll change
• Perform wipe outs as necessary
• Log all material rolls in the roll log / scrap report as used
• Monitor scrap levels and remove scrap plastic from machines and transport to designated areas
• Palletize shipping containers
• Transport finished product to designated areas
• Prepare materials to be returned to inventory
• Perform setup of minor equipment (i.e. tapers)
• Safety :
• Perform general housekeeping duties and maintain safe work area.
• Keep area clean and organized per food safety standards.
• Resolve safety issues and report them immediately to your manager / supervisor.
• Communication :
• Contact the Production Lead or Supervisor when a thermoformer will be down for a prolonged period of time to ensure reassignment of product auditor(s) in a timely manner
• Communicate all information at shift hand off to the incoming operator
• Communicate needs to warehouse personnel for material, cardboard boxes, and scrap bin removal to ensure optimal running of the manufacturing lines
• Maintain all operator reports and keep record of material data
• Assist in OTJ training
• All other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

High safety standards and understanding of all food safety standards

Ability to read and understand written instructions

Ability to haul heavy loads

Mechanical skills / aptitude

Experience with computer programs

Self-motivated

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE (but are not limited to) :

Standing :

Must be able to stand for full shift.

Manual Dexterity :

Must be able to use hand tools for installation and adjustments on equipment.

Bending :

Must be able to bend to floor.

Vision :

Must be able to clearly read written instructions and detect problems with machines and parts.

Reaching :

Must be able to reach into equipment, often at awkward angles.

Hearing :

Must be able to communicate with coworkers and listen for machine malfunctions.

Lifting :

Must be able to lift up to 55 pounds

Speech :

Must be able to communicate with coworkers.
