POSITION SUMMARY :

The Healthcare Technician is an assistant who works with the school nurse, school staff, administration, students, and families to support the health and wellness needs of the school.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

1. High school graduate or equivalent.

2. Minimum of two years of healthcare experience preferred.

3. Good organization skills.

4. Ability to work well with people, in a team environment, and to communicate effectively both written & oral.

5. Ability to perform various activities such as constant standing, walking, frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, and squatting.

6. Excellent computer skills (Google platform)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

1. Provide care and support to students who demonstrate symptoms suggestive of COVID-19 during the school day (under the direction of the school nurse).

Use of PPE will be required.

2. Implements the district's health and safety protocols.

3. Works directly with students, staff, parents, and administrators.

4. Provide care and support to students with chronic and acute health needs, including administration of medication.

5. Check vital signs as warranted.

6. Follows health and wellness guidelines and protocols including documenting student clinic visits, contacting parents / guardians to pick up students, and cleaning, disinfecting, sanitizing clinic when necessary.

7. Contacts the school nurse with any questions, concerns regarding student illnesses and follow up.

8. Bending, lifting, and overhead work required.

9. Performs other tasks as assigned.

RATE OF PAY : $17.61 per hour

HOURS : 35 total hours per week

30 minutes for lunch (unpaid)

Monday - Friday

Position follows the School year schedule

Occasionally the employee will bend or twist at the neck more than the average person. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs such as boxes of books.

The employee is directly responsible for safety, well-being, or work output of other people. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus.

Upon recommendation for employment, Section 1230g, as amended, of the Revised School Code requires all school employees to be electronically finger printed for the purpose of undergoing a criminal history background check.

The fingerprinting is conducted by a third party and is at the expense of the applicant. Cost for fingerprinting is approximately $70.00.
