Responsibilities
Provide health care services to patients within the parameters of a standard care agreement or supervisory organization with an attending physician member of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.Collaborate with a physician(s) and other clinicians to deliver a full scope of patient care focused on preventive health and management of acute and / or stable chronic conditions.Perform medical services as authorized by credentialing and licensure bodies.On the Cancer Medicine / Inpatient Medical Oncology team, provide primary inpatient care for patients with solid tumor malignancies who are hospitalized for acute illnesses and cancer treatment.Contribute to pre-rounding, daily multidisciplinary rounds / care planning, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and imaging studies, prescribing medications and treatments, and evaluating treatment response.Document admissions and discharges, manage changes in clinical status, and collaborate with Oncology Hospitalists and Medical Oncologists.Support care on the solid tumor oncology treatment service, including management of inpatient chemotherapy and clinical trials.Qualifications
Current certificate of authority to practice as an APRN in the State of Ohio OR a Master's Degree in Nursing qualified to sit for a national certification exam recognized by the Ohio Board of Nursing.OR Master's prepared; graduate of a PA-C program qualified to sit for the NCCPA certification; eligibility for State of Ohio licensure as a PA-C.1 year of acute care or hospitalist experience preferred.Acute Care / Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification or Physician Assistant Certification preferred.Additional Information
The team operates 24 / 7 with rotating 12-hour day and night shifts. APPs joining the team are expected to work a portion of nights based on operational needs; nocturnal allowances are paid for these schedules. There are no outside-of-hospital call responsibilities for this role, supporting work-life balance.
