About The Position
Weekly Pay Range - $2267 To $2519 Job Title : Radiologic Technologist, Special Procedures Technologist Job Specialty : Cardiovascular Intervention, Cath Lab Technologist Job Duration : 13 weeks Shift : Day Shift with On-Call Rotation (Weeknights, Weekends, and Holidays) Guaranteed Hours : 40 hours per week Experience : Minimum 2 years License : IEMA-DNS radiography accreditation required Certifications : - ARRT(R)- ARRT(VI) or ARRT(CI)- BLS- ACLS- PALS- NIHSS Must-Have : Graduate of an accredited radiology program Job Description : Verify patient identification and presence of appropriate signed informed procedural consent.
- Identify allergies and history of contrast reactions prior to any procedure through patient records and direct questioning.
- Ensure package integrity and check expiration dates of sterile supplies.- Verify the type, concentration, amount, and expiration date of medications.
- Prepare equipment for sterilization.- Monitor and record vital signs; assess distal pulses pre- and post-procedure.- Participate in the pre-procedural time-out activity.
- Prepare access sites, sterile drapes, and covers; ensure patient comfort by familiarizing them with equipment and examination.
- Prepare the patient for examination with physiological monitoring equipment.- In conjunction with the physician, select the appropriate contrast agent.
- Set up and operate the automatic contrast injector; ensure its proper function and cleanliness.- Prepare or assist in administering injectable medications per physician's orders, including analgesics, anticoagulants, thrombolytics, vasoactives, and emergency medications.
- Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.- Monitor and maintain medical equipment during the procedure; adjust and calibrate pressure transducers.
- Scrub in with the physician; use sterile technique to help prevent infection.- Handle blood and body fluids following biohazard protocols.
- Advocate for radiation safety; wear a personnel radiation dosimeter and minimize radiation exposure.- Document fluoroscopy time and radiation dose;
evaluate dose reports for established limits.- Position the patient / imaging equipment; select imaging protocols to optimize image quality and minimize dose.
- Employ image enhancement techniques during the procedure.- Acquire and process digital images; perform 3D image reconstructions.
- Assist with ultrasound guidance for vascular or organ access / biopsy.- Monitor and record procedural data, including injection, physiological data, administered medications, and complications.
- Assist with vascular access and assigned diagnostic / interventional procedures.- Provide post-procedural care, apply pressure to puncture sites, apply dressings, and place vascular closure devices.
- Provide practical instruction for students and partners. Additional Information : EPIC EMR used, holiday coverage required, work in a Level 1 Trauma Center with a bed size range of 150-500.
