We are looking for a Senior Military Financial Analyst to join our team! The Senior Military Financial Analyst will support the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense, Personnel and Readiness (OUSD P&R) by performing a variety of analytical, financial, and administrative project tasks.

This job is central to the Resource and Program Integration team and is responsible for providing financial analysis and audit support in support of OUSD(P&R) strategic priorities.

This position is located onsite in Arlington, VA at the Pentagon.

Responsibilities :

  • Provide detailed financial analysis and budgeting support to OUSD(P&R) leadership.
  • Provide analysis of prior year expenditures to include liquidated and unliquidated obligations; provide troubleshooting to clear outstanding balances.
  • Support audit functions through analysis of transactions, determination of MIPR status, de-obligation of funds, and identification and storage of supporting documentation.
  • Provide analysis and reporting on current year expenditures to include unsubmitted vouchers and travel claims.
  • Utilize CATMS to process taskers and action items specific to the P&R Finance portfolio.
  • Work to support the improvement of OUSD(P&R) and subordinate components' financial reporting processes; monitor financial reporting controls and validate corrective actions;

communicate and coordinate change management.

  • Provide support to DoD's annual audits including the annual Statement of Assurance (SoA, formerly known as Managers Internal Control Program), the Military Retirement Fund (MRF), and other audit related actions.
  • Support in the preparation of the Annual SoA regarding the effectiveness of internal controls as they relate to the OUSD(P&R) as a whole.
  • Support senior leadership in the development of strategies and plans to overcome material weaknesses identified in DoD internal and external audits;

help identify and recommend new business processes or controls needed to achieve financial statement assertions.

  • Monitor financial reporting controls and validate the corrective actions of the organization.
  • Assist in the preparation and coordination of OUSD(P&R) response to findings and recommendations related to the MRF and support leadership participation in MRF related meetings and activities.
  • Support Government staff in the preparation, review, and coordination of documents associated with the management of the MRF.
  • Maintain data in an electronic format available for analysis and reporting.

Qualifications :

  • Must be a United States Citizen with an Active Secret Clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of DoD / Military Accounting and Finance experience.
  • Experience supporting the Department of Defense (OUSD preferred) in a financial analyst capacity.
  • Experience with standard MS Office suite products to include Excel and Pivot tables.
  • Experience with Federal ERP (DAI, GFEBS, or similar).
  • Ability to work responsibly and independently with minimal direct supervision.
  • Demonstrated skills to perform all required duties.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • SharePoint experience.
  • CATMS experience.
  • Familiarity with ADVANA.
  • Familiarity with Military Retirement Fund and Statement of Assurance.
  • Experience as a DoD comptroller.

The annual salary range for this role is $106,000 - $160,000. Please note that the salary information provided is a general guideline.
