Position Summary :
Staff Nurse I is accountable for the delivery of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process and Relationship-Based Care model.
The Staff Nurse I provides direct patient care and takes initiative to improve patient outcomes by integrating Shared Leadership, Evidence-Based Practice, and Relationship-Based Care into clinical practice.
Duties & Responsibilities :
- Administer patient care with a high degree of skill, as prescribed by a physician.
- Establish nursing care goals for individual patients or patient groups and formulate care plans.
- Encourage nursing personnel to identify with the nursing team and appreciate the role of all health sciences in patient care.
- Establish unit procedures to coordinate the care of a patient group.
- Explain departmental and unit policies and procedures, and evaluate new policies.
- Demonstrate nursing procedures to assure staff's ability to render effective care.
- Establish short-range goals for patient instruction and rehabilitation.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Minimum Qualifications :
- Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
- Minimum of 1.5 years Med-Surg and Psych experience required.
- Experience working on a Float team or agency work preferred.
- Current AHA BLS / CPR and other required unit specific certifications.
- Effective communication skills (oral and written) that facilitate therapeutic relationships.
- Intermediate computer skills with the ability to become proficient in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills, and work history required.
