Position Summary :
Under the supervision the Pharmacy Director, Pharmacists and Buyer / Lead Tech, the Pharmacy Technician assists in the preparation and delivery of all medications and performs related duties.
This shall be carried out in accordance with all state / federal laws, Joint Commission standards, and hospital / departmental policies and procedures.
Position Requirements / Qualifications :
Education Minimum :
High school graduate or equivalent with clerical and science courses preferred. Proof of completion of board approved pharmacy technician training program
Experience / Other Qualifications :
- One year of hospital pharmacy experience preferred in unit dose and IV admixture preferred
- Demonstrates good communication skills and is able to relate effectively to hospital staff, department heads, administration, and medical staff
Required Certification / Licensure / Registration :
- For both Tech positions, must be registered with the Board of Pharmacy as Pharm Tech
- To be considered Certified Pharmacy Tech, must obtain Certification

This individual’s responsibilities include (but are not limited to) : Accurately fill and label medication orders with correct strength, dosage form, and quantity in a timely manner.
Accurately stock automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs) in a timely manner. Fill / refill emergency crash carts, boxes, and kits timely and accurately.
Re-package and label oral medications / extemporaneous preparations and maintain appropriate records.
Education :
Required : High school graduate or equivalent
Experience :
Required : 3 years of hospital experience
Certifications :
Required : Registered Pharmacy Technician license or Pharmacy Technician certification, as required by state law. Accredited training in sterile products preparation.
Physical Demands :
Lift / position up to 50 lbs. Push / pull up to 50 lbs. of force. Frequent standing and walking. Frequent reaching, stooping, and bending.
Manual dexterity, mobility, touch, auditory to perform all the related duties of the position.
