About the Role
We seek a Senior Product Marketing Manager to join our team. Our ideal candidate is passionate about the technologies that underpin world-changing applications, deeply technical, & loves working closely with a fast-moving & highly innovative product team.
This role will drive product marketing strategies for CockroachDB while helping us continue to lead & define our category of Distributed SQL.
Product Marketing is in the middle of everything Cockroach Labs does. If you like working with the R&D team in the morning, the Demand Generation team mid-day, & the Sales team in the afternoon, wed love to hear from you!
You Will Own
Product Positioning & Messaging : You are responsible for developing, creating & delivering compelling messaging, positioning & value propositions for Cockroach Labs products & solutions & understanding the needs of key personas including architects, operators & developers.
A major part of this role is translating complex technical capabilities into clear, value oriented messaging.
- Content Creation & Bill of Materials : Develop high-impact marketing collateral including product briefs, website copy, blog posts, sales collateral, whitepapers, case studies to effectively communicate the value proposition of our products & solutions to target audiences.
- Product Launches & Releases : Deliver & drive successful cross-functional product launch initiatives, working closely with product & marketing teams & communicating product releases to customers, prospects, & stakeholders.
- Sales Enablement : Develop & deliver training materials to the sales team that support our various customer journey stages & the personas.
- Explain where sellers can win across various verticals, solutions & use cases.
- Market Intelligence : Understand & analyze industry trends, customer needs, & the competitive landscape. Translate insights into strategies to position CockroachDB favorably in the market & inform product positioning & messaging.
- GTM planning : Articulate our story by building an end-to-end messaging framework & work closely with cross-functional teams to develop & execute strategic marketing plans to drive product awareness, adoption, & revenue growth for CockroachDB & supporting feature sets.
- Cross-functional GTM collaboration : Collaborate with key stakeholders in product management, marketing & sales to ensure alignment.
Build strong relationships with customers, partners, & industry influencers to enhance brand visibility & drive product advocacy.
The Expectations
In your first 30 days, you will dive deep into our products, solutions & go-to-market strategy. Youll work closely with the product managers & engineering teams who support your part of the product.
Youll learn how we measure our business & connect with key managers in the marketing organization.
In the next 60 days, you will refine our product & campaign messaging & build a product launch plan for our next release cycle.
You will complete 200-level Cockroach University courses.
After three months, you will fully execute against key goals & fully engage with the various stakeholders you need to work with : sales, sales enablement, demand generation, content marketing, AR / PR, & other key stakeholders at Cockroach Labs.
You Have
- 4+ years of proven PMM enterprise software / SaaS experience, including having launched products to market
- Deep technical knowledge & experience working with technical teams, ideally in the database category
- Strong messaging & persona-building skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into compelling stories
- The ability to write unique & personable long-form content that our target personas want to read
- Ability to thoughtfully use LLMs to radically improve PMM effectiveness.
- Proven track record in executing successful go-to-market strategies in enterprise infrastructure companies.
- Experience in working cross-functionally with product, engineering, & sales teams to achieve aligned goals.

The annual anticipated base salary range for U.S. candidates for this role is USD $124,000 - $164,000 plus commission if a sales role.
We set standard ranges for all U.S.-based roles based on function, level, & geographic location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies.
In order to be compliant with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, we share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location.
Actual salaries may vary & fall outside of this range depending on factors such as a candidates qualifications, geographic location, skills, experience, & competencies.
In addition, we are often open to a wide variety of profiles, & recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced (or more senior) than this job description as posted.
