The Team You Will Join

The Responsible Use of AI team was set up to ensure responsible implementation of AI across the enterprise. This team sits within the Data Governance team, which is part of the Data and Analytics Organization in the Global Technology Operations team.

The Opportunity

The Responsible Use of AI Data Scientist is a unique opportunity that afford the successful candidate to perform following responsibilities :

  • Engage with various stakeholders to identify and analyze potential risks associated with AI technologies, including generative AI.
  • Convert Responsible AI Standards into practical Ethical AI controls and implementation practices that are scalable, consulting with stakeholders and creating standardized frameworks and templates for company-wide use.

Formulate and periodically revise policies and practical guidelines for AI use case development.

  • Stay informed of industry-wide insights and best practices in responsible AI policy and ethics to foresee risks and recognize obstacles in implementing MetLife's Responsible AI Standard.
  • Develop and execute policies and methodologies to address potential harms from generative AI in collaboration with the privacy, security, model risk, data governance, and procurement teams.
  • Utilize technical expertise to foster cross-disciplinary partnerships to develop new tools and methods to mitigate risks and remove implementation barriers.
  • Coordinate with community members within the responsible AI field to assimilate industry best practices and develop custom solutions that support effective Responsible AI implementations.
  • Lead discussions and training sessions on the importance of predictive modeling, bias mitigation, fairness, and explainability in AI systems, ensuring these principles are understood and implemented within business and functional areas across the organization.
  • Review and evaluate AI use cases for adherence to company policies and ethical standards, providing feedback and guidance to AI teams on improving model transparency and accountability.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to develop company-wide guidelines and best practices for responsible AI, focusing on the ethical use of predictive analytics.
  • Advocate for continuous improvement in the use and understanding of AI technologies, ensuring that all AI implementations align with industry standards and regulatory expectations.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Master's degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Strong foundation in quantitative analysis with an emphasis on predictive modeling and data science principles.
  • 3 - 5 years' experience working in a related field with demonstrated success.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • PhD in a quantitative discipline.
  • Extensive knowledge of bias, fairness, and explainability in AI systems, with experience in conveying these concepts effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Proven track record of effective communication and collaboration with technical teams, with the ability to bridge the gap between governance policies and technical implementation.
  • Experience in facilitating change and fostering an understanding of ethical AI practices within a large global organization.

The salary range for applicants for this position is $108,000 - $182,100.
