We are seeking a seasoned Senior Project Manager to lead our Heavy Highway / Civil division. This role is critical in overseeing all phases of construction projects, from preconstruction through completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the highest quality standards.

The ideal candidate will work closely with the Project Superintendent to manage the overall execution of heavy highway and civil construction projects.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Safety Oversight : Actively monitor project safety and have the authority to halt work if unsafe conditions are identified, collaborating with the Project Superintendent and Safety department to address concerns.
  • Expertise in Trades : Possess a deep understanding of all trades, with specialized knowledge in heavy highway and civil construction methods.
  • Estimating and Bidding : Proficient in estimating, bidding, and understanding unit costs, ensuring all contract information is accurate.

Lead subcontractor job walks and represent the company at pre-bid and pre-proposal meetings.

  • Project Scheduling : Develop and evaluate comprehensive project schedules, including preconstruction activities, and conduct constructability reviews for large projects.
  • Cost Forecasting : Accurately forecast project costs throughout the project's life cycle.
  • Leadership in Various Delivery Methods : Provide leadership and expertise in construction management, design-build, and design-assist delivery methods, ensuring all necessary resources are ordered and available when needed.
  • Client Requirements : Identify unique client needs and create documentation to support those requirements.
  • Subcontractor Management : Lead subcontractor compliance and recovery processes, manage subcontract terms and conditions, lien release processes, insurance requirements, and claims resolution.

Effectively conduct subcontract meetings.

  • Team Development : Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate project team members to foster growth and success.
  • Financial Acumen : Have a strong understanding of company financials, including interpreting financial statements and liaising with banking, bonding, and accounting firms.
  • Punchlist Management : Develop and implement a project-specific punchlist approach, integrating feedback from the client, construction manager, and design team, and ensuring timely resolution.
  • Closeout Supervision : Oversee the project closeout process to ensure all objectives are met successfully.
  • Cost Management on Self-Performed Work : Guide the project team in managing costs related to self-performed work and provide direction on mitigation strategies as necessary.
  • Communication and Reporting : Coordinate with accounting and project administration to produce pay applications, reports, and pricing for owner change requests and change orders accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Workplace Conduct : Uphold a work environment free of harassment and discrimination for all employees.
  • Additional Responsibilities : Undertake additional tasks as assigned to support project and company goals.

Qualifications :

Education & Experience :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least six (6) years of experience in project management within the construction industry.

Skills & Competencies :

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word).
  • Familiar with modern construction tools and technologies, including Viewpoint, Bluebeam, and other BIM software.
  • Knowledge of local and regional market dynamics and ability to build and maintain strong business relationships.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear and persuasive presentations.
  • Strong understanding of construction finance, scheduling, engineering, estimating, and procurement processes.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret contracts, drawings, blueprints, specifications, schedules, and scopes of work.
