Department Summary
The Department of Earth, Planetary, and Space Sciences is an academic unit within the College of Letters and Science consisting of academic researchers, scientists and faculty, staff, postdocs, undergrads and graduates across all majors.
Our department is located in the Geology Building and Slichter Hall, occupying multiple laboratories and prototyping facilities to support a variety of research in Earth and space systems.
Position Summary
The Department of Earth, Planetary, and Space Sciences is an academic unit within the College of Letters and Science with an exciting and expansive research program.
The department is looking for an experienced Applications Programmer to fulfill a vital position in the department.
Salary & Compensation
UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.

Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years experience doing scientific programming. (Required)
- Proficient in Java, Python and C++ programming. (Required)
- Proficient in Node.js programming (Required)
- Proficient in using GitHub Markdown for documentation (Preferred)
- Proficient in WEB 2.0 technologies (HTML, XML, JavaScript, CSS). (Required)
- Working knowledge in calling and developing REST-ful services using Node.js or Java. (Required)
- Working knowledge of the JavaScript and jQuery library. (Required)
- Ability to work in an Agile programming environment (Required)
- Skill in working independently, prioritizing tasks, and following through on assignments with minimal direction. (Required)
- Ability to perform effectively under conditions of fluctuating workflow and frequent interruptions. (Required)
- Skill in working as part of a team and collaborating with colleagues including working collaboratively with staff and faculty members while adhering to direction and following through on assignments (Required)
- Ability to speak, write and comprehend English fluently (Required)
- Demonstrated willingness and ability to learn new ideas, skills and procedures (Required)
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent experience / training (Required)
