JOB SUMMARY

The Safety Operations Manager (SOM) is responsible for managing ETC’s public safety program and engaging in crisis response, emergency planning and training to remain consistent with industry standards.

The SOM in coordination with the Director maintains and ensures compliance with public safety policies and procedures. The SOM is part of a team that plans, directs, and coordinates activities related to the protection, safeguarding, and security of guests, employees, vendor partners and contractors as well as company physical assets and property.

The SOM manages and supervises the weekly operations of the Public Safety program. Duty hours for this position are typically 8am 5pm Tuesday through Saturday and requires the SOM to remain in an on-call status during off hours every other week (as determined by the Director).

Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, special events and holidays as needed.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Property Safety and Emergency Management

  • Lead the development and implementation of plans for emergency response and related safety / security issues.
  • Lead the effort to plan, schedule, train, conduct, measure and review property safety drills. Provide and implement recommendations to improve safety drills procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with operational procedures as they relate to protecting and patrolling physical property.
  • Regularly inspect the property for safety concerns, fire and liability risk.
  • Identifying and maintaining partnerships with emergency management, law enforcement, and community stakeholders

Event Management

Lead the development and implementation of traffic, parking enforcement, and crowd control plans for major property events.

Patrol Operations / Personnel Management

  • Lead and supervise public safety program full and part-time personnel. Administer procedures, practices, and polices that promote property safety and reduce risk.
  • Ensure compliance with operational procedures as they relate to traffic control.
  • Identify and conduct regular training related to traffic management, safety, and risk.
  • Oversee training requirements for safety program staff; providing training on a regular, ongoing basis.
  • Perform supervisory functions related to payroll and PTO approval.

Internal Audits, Reports and Investigation Management

Regularly inspect and audit the inventory of all equipment issued to public safety personnel, shared departmental equipment and security systems;

cause repairs or replacement as necessary.

  • Follow up on identified issues and make recommendations for resolution of issues.
  • Maintain departmental procedures and update as necessary.
  • Review daily reports and departmental activities to identify the need for internal investigations where there is a violation of federal, state, or local laws, or violations of Easton Code of Conduct, procedure, or protocol.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
  • Associate’s degree or higher; plus minimum three (3) years experience in public safety, property security or law enforcement
  • Demonstrated experience working in successful team development and management, and in the implementation of new programs and approaches
  • A growth-minded approach, with interest in leading, teaching, and mentoring
  • Ability to work independently and utilize independent judgement
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, to interface with diverse constituency, and to represent the property with integrity and professionalism
  • The ability to navigate challenging situations with the utmost professional demeanor
  • Demonstrated ability to accomplish goals and objectives within established priority and timeframes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite of programs; Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.
  • Responsible for training, development and supervision of all Public Safety Supervisors and Officers within the Public Safety department to ensure compliance of department and company policies and procedures.

This includes coaching and performance counseling as needed.

  • Previous experience writing policies and procedures related to emergency management, safety and security.
  • Knowledge of security technologies and integration (CCTV, access control, alarm systems, mass notification).

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

This job will require being out on property, either walking or driving, for regularly scheduled property reviews, and in a professional office environment.

The individual will be an integral member of the Operations Team and will be expected to interact with all departments, tenants, and vendors;

support all programs by other departments; and participate in staff meetings.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

TRAVEL

Occasional travel is expected for this position.
