Position Summary
The Business Development Manager, Global Clients & Industries will work with the Global Industry Group Business Development leads in supporting them on the ongoing infrastructure building of our Global Industry Groups, to develop a platform that best positions our groups to drive profitable revenue amongst those clients that are part of these groups.
This role will be working with Business Development leads and lawyers’ part of the groups to develop and execute strategy, client development and cross-industry business development initiatives that align with the Firm’s strategy.
These efforts will help to develop the industry groups’ brand and market profile to build client relationships across key practices and support profitable revenue growth.
The role will report into the Senior Manager, Private Equity Industry Group, Americas, and work closely with the Director, Global Clients & Industries..
Duties and Accountabilities1
- Work with the Global Industry Group Business Development leads to support the industry groups’ marketing and business development initiatives, ensuring clients and lawyers receive a consistent experience from the industry groups
- Work with the Director, Clients and Industries to drive and implement Industry Group initiatives designed to further our Global Industry Group offering, , internal industry trends update and client talking points, Industry Group affiliation, etc.
- Drive the coordination across Industry Groups and Practice Groups to ensure awareness of cross- and single-practice initiatives, as well as industry developments and trends, provide or facilitate Industry Group-specific
- Be responsible for select Industry Group Priority Client(s); activities will include working with Global Relationship Partners (or equivalent) to set and deliver relationship development goals, providing and / or facilitating related business development support, and managing client-related activities and processes such as trainings, events, secondments, etc.
- Be responsible for select verticals, sub-groups or initiatives within industry groups; activities will include working with Global Industry Group Partner and Business Development leads to develop and deliver on strategic planning and providing and / or facilitating related marketing and operational support
- Develop and drive the Firm’s industry-centric messaging across external marketing channels; this will include working with the broader Business Development and Marketing Communications teams to plan and produce industry-centric collateral and thought leadership content
- Work with the Business Analytics team to enhance industry group financial reporting and facilitate consistency across industry groups
- Contribute to and maintain organized and accessible industry / practice group focused knowledge hub that can develop cross-selling across the Firm
Qualifications
- At least five years’ relevant Business Development experience, preferably within a law firm and / or large international organization
- Educated to degree level, or equivalent, in a relevant subject area
- High professional standards
- Strong attention to detail which should be balanced by a big picture vision
- Well-developed organizational and communication skills
- Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with people at all levels
- Pragmatic, self-motivated, flexible, and able to work both in a team and individually as required
- Willingness to take on additional tasks as and when required
- Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in MS Office, ideally experience of iManage / document management systems
- Excellent communicator both orally and in writing with a diplomatic approach

- Good team player and team / project management experience
Location and Reporting
- This is a hybrid role based in our New York office.
- This role reports to the Senior Manager, Global Private Equity Industry Group, Americas.
