Position Overview

QinetiQ seeks a Launch Systems Engineer (LSE) to support the NRO Office of Space Launch (OSL). The LSE will provide technical expertise on Launch Enterprise capabilities, including facilities, systems, and equipment operations, maintenance, and planning. The ideal candidate will be an expert in Launch Systems execution, offering scholarly advice, performing assessments, and analyzing technical approaches, risks, and alternatives. Key responsibilities include :

  • Recommending optimal paths for the NRO and OSL based on mission specifications
  • Evaluating verification data and actions for adequacy
  • Supporting planning, integration, and acquisition of space launch support systems, focusing on sustainment, reliability, maintainability, and availability
  • Identifying mission risk areas and developing mitigation strategies, including interface compatibility assessments
  • Advising on the Launch Readiness Process
  • Supporting meetings, briefings, reviews, and readiness assessments for OSL
  • Maintaining knowledge of launch base systems, infrastructure, and related networks
  • Scoping and documenting requirements for new missions and capabilities, including drawings and specifications
  • Providing project management and technical support for OSL System Engineering and enterprise projects
  • Assessing impacts of changes to launch vehicle fleet, satellite architecture, and launch sites
  • Developing briefings for NRO leadership and external organizations
  • Estimating program and project costs across OSL capabilities
  • Supporting budget planning and reviews
  • Participating in technical and programmatic meetings

Required Qualifications

  • TS / SCI clearance with CI / Polygraph; #qinetiqclearedjob
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience
  • At least 5 years of NRO experience
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • 15 years of relevant experience
  • 10 years of NRO experience
