The ICS Capstone Program provides students with technical, communication, and teamwork experience that prepares them for positions in industry, government, and nonprofits. As the culminating project in a student's education, the ICS Capstone Program requires student teams to integrate and apply their technical coursework to a real-world problem from an industry partner, with project involvement by an industry-based mentor.

Your Role on the Team

Under the general direction of the Executive Director of Development, the Industry Capstone Program Specialist is a fundraising professional who works collaboratively with the Director of Corporate Relations, Development team, industry partners in the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences (ICS), and University Advancement colleagues to lead development programs and manage relationships with capstone industry partners with a goal of securing corporate partnerships, gifts, and significant philanthropic support for the ICS Capstone Programs. The scope of responsibilities includes : qualification, cultivation, and solicitation of new and existing donors, donor engagement, meeting metrics, development and coordination of fundraising programs, development of collateral material, presentations, newsletters, stewardship, and coordination of leadership meetings. The incumbent performs coordination of complex duties that engages with confidential and sensitive information of a broad scope related to donor relations, annual and major gift fundraising, and public relations. Incumbent is a motivated individual willing to partner with development officers, and faculty in priority areas to create opportunities for friends, alumni and corporations to give.

The ICS Capstone Program planned program growth includes increasing capstone projects and interdisciplinary projects. To prepare for and support program growth, the incumbent plays a key role in raising the visibility of the ICS Capstone Programs across both undergraduate and self-supporting graduate programs, expanding and diversifying the base of industry partners, and fostering ongoing engagement with returning partners to strengthen corporate involvement with the school. The incumbent is also responsible for ensuring that documents and agreements related to capstone programs are completed and confirmed, providing follow-up stewardship to partners, and collaborating with the External Relations team to ensure that capstone funds are received and acknowledged. In addition to relationship management, the role includes outreach to prospective industry partners, securing capstone funding commitments, event planning, scheduling, and general program management, with flexibility to take on additional responsibilities as the program evolves.

Expected pay range : $88,000.00 - $106,400.00 / year

What It Takes to be Successful

Required :

• Thorough working knowledge of fundraising, donor relations, and public relations concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques.
• Strong knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, etc.
• Strong written and interpersonal communication skills to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies. Ability to prepare complex and detailed proposals and related materials
• Strong organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills, including skills in creative and effective decision-making and problem identification / avoidance / resolution, and project management skills.
• Strong skills in maintaining confidentiality.
• Understanding of academic, research and education functions and operating principals of a major research university
• Ability to work independently with department, school and institutional goals in mind
• Team-oriented strategist able to effectively manage complex situations involving multiple and sometimes competing constituencies.
• Skill in communicating persuasively, both orally and in writing, about private philanthropy in general and in particular as it applies to UCI.
• Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $$88,000.00- $$106,400.00 (Annual).
