Sports Turf Maintenance Specialist

This role is a skilled position under limited supervision, assisting and directing an assigned phase of sport turf maintenance, field renovations and general landscape improvements.

Individuals may perform other duties as assigned, including working in other functional areas to cover absences or relief, to equalize peak work periods, or otherwise to balance the workload.

Examples of Duties :

• Operates and assists in supervising the maintenance of athletic sport turf, ballfield care and renovations, landscaping and related projects and activities.
• Personally, operates and assists with work of equipment, sprayers, spreaders, tractors, sweepers, aerators and related equipment.
• Follows all safety practices and procedures. Inspects and maintains equipment. Makes general operating decisions and determines most efficient use of equipment and staff in the absence of the Sports Turf Supervisor.
• Maintains detailed operating records and prepares reports.
• Keeps supervisor informed orally and in writing.
• Ability to lift and / or move up to 80 pounds and push or pull heavy objects. Performs related work as required.

Emergency response : County employees are required to report for work during a state of emergency and are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations which may include duties other than those specified in this job description.
