Senior Director Gift and Estate Planning
The Senior Director of Gift and Estate Planning is responsible for the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of a portfolio of prospective donors for deferred and current gifts, including : estate gifts, charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder unitrusts, lead trusts, and outright gifts.
Additional administrative duties will include, partnering with Advancement Communications to develop and implement a comprehensive print and electronic marketing program designed to educate and generate prospective planned gift donors.
The Senior Director also will oversee the Gift and Estate Planning stewardship program, The Heritage Society.
Key Responsibilities :

- Cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of prospects for deferred and outright gifts in support of University priorities and also the Creighton Fund (unrestricted giving).
- Collaborate with the Advancement Communications Team to develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategy for print and electronic marketing programs to inform our alumni and increase number of prospect leads.
- Partner with the Donor Relations Team to develop and implement a formal stewardship program for the Heritage Society.
- Collaborate with Prospect Management to develop and sustain a planned-giving prospect pipeline.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Minimum 7-10 years experience of demonstrated, successful fundraising with direct experience cultivating, soliciting and closing deferred and complex outright gifts preferred.
Comparable experience will be considered.
Knowledge of the legal and procedural requirements associated with deferred and complex outright gifts.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
- Success in personal cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activities preferred.
- Experience in higher education in a comprehensive campaign environment preferred.
- Appreciation and understanding of Creighton University's mission and the ability to effectively communicate it.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with a customer relationship management system preferred.
- Ability to think strategically and quickly summarize complex and detailed information.
