OVERVIEW
Merrick is seeking a Construction Project Manager to manage the development and implementation of a business plan (and associated client relations) for strategic Consulting and District Engineering services.
Typical salary range for this position is $145,000.00 - $180,000.00. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Manages the following tasks : Development of the strategic plan, goals, and objectives of the business each fiscal year along with the Subsector Leader, other Group Leads, and Practice Building colleagues.
Uses market research and other appropriate information to identify potential opportunities (as determined by the established strategic plan).
- Demonstrates ability to orchestrate others to manage and report on multiple tasks and projects at various stages of completion and complexity.
- Communicates and coordinates with both internal and external project and client stakeholders as required for successful project execution.
- Exhibits a high degree of professionalism, integrity, and business ethics.Maintains client relationships during project delivery and participates in the Merrick client satisfaction survey program.
Develops a network of potential teaming partners in design, construction, and consultant industries.Prepares proposals to provide professional services or obtain funding for engineering projects / programs.
Communication / Teamwork / Leadership
Possesses advanced oral and written communication skills, including interpretation of complex technical and contractual language (i.
e.,give effective presentations at conferences, during strategic planning, and ensure clear communication with team members)
- Develops relationships with key client decision makers.
- Leads project meetings with clients and represents Merrick in communications pertaining to projects and tasks.
- Becomes familiar with Merrick’s Team’s service lines and key personnel capabilities. Be able to identify skillsets of each member and where they fit into the strategic plan to win projects.
- Manages the creation of and helps sustains a diverse and inclusive team culture through strategic hiring and identifying what skills are needed to complement the existing team.
Technical Expectations :
- Experience with planning, permitting, financing, designing, constructing, commissioning, and seeking obtaining funding reimbursement for critical public infrastructure for large (1000+ acre) land development programs.
- Increasing familiarity with the technical requirements of Team projects, their cost and the processes involved in their design.
- Must be capable of performing independent planning and design tasks, orchestrating deliverables for multiple clients, reviewing the designs of others, preparing construction documents, and managing the successful delivery of assigned projects for multiple clients.
- Keeps multiple project teams informed of updates to standards, regulations, and best practice in service of targeted client(s).
Professional Activities
- Participates in and orchestrates client or community events.
- Participates in conferences and local chapters of National professional associations (e.g., Special District’s Association (SDA) of Colorado, AWWA and WEF), and other external organizations to develop a network of business contacts important to key clients.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Colorado or capable of registration within six months of appointment.
- Bachelor of Sciences / Civil or Environmental Engineering degree from an A.B.E.T. accredited school is required.
- Master’s degree in engineering is preferred, but not a requirement if successful project experience is demonstrated.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of demonstrated successful experience in relevant market sector projects and cross-functional skills needed to grow new business.
Twelve (12) years minimum desired.Expanded familiarity with Metropolitan Districts or Land Development Construction market and key competitors' service offerings.
Expanded ability to identify and counter competitors service offerings with internal offerings.
- Clients : Demonstrated positive direct interaction with Metropolitan Districts or Land Development clients and potential clients from multiple departments in a land development organization on a regular basis.
- Construction Program and Funding Reimbursement Program Management : Demonstrated ability to orchestrate a construction management services team to advertise, award, observe, and validate funding reimbursements for multiple concurrent construction projects.
Most projects focus on constructing critical public infrastructure for large (1000+ acre) land development programs.
Scale of Project Load : Must be relied upon to advance relationships with multiple functional teams, business partners, or project delivery teams.
Has demonstrated an ability to both grow new and expand existing relationships across multiple functional teams while also occasionally assisting in production tasks.
Demonstrates high efficiencies in leveraging multiple project execution team(s) or identifying key hires to handle project load.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in engineering is preferred, but not a requirement if successful project experience is demonstrated.
