What's your day like?

The Full-Time Construction Recordkeeper role at the City of Pharr is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation and compliance of construction projects. You will attend pre-construction meetings, guiding contractor bookkeepers on recordkeeping procedures while monitoring adherence to FHWA 1273 contract provisions and DBE goals, submitting essential monthly reports. Your responsibilities will include preparing and maintaining comprehensive project records and estimates, verifying calculations to ensure work completion before payments are processed. Additionally, you will handle clerical tasks, maintain equipment records, and may lead project teams. Collaborating closely with construction inspectors, you will ensure that project records capture all changes and agreements accurately while responding to audit reports from the Pharr TxDOT district office.

To excel as a Full-Time Construction Recordkeeper with the City of Pharr, a diverse skill set is essential. A valid Texas Class C Driver's License is required, along with certification in Texas Department of Transportation Local Government Project Procedures. Candidates must be knowledgeable in Equal Employment Opportunity guidelines, contract development, and oversight of DBE, HUB, and SBE programs. Proficiency in writing, reviewing, and revising documents—such as engineering notes and specifications—is necessary, as is the ability to lead and monitor the work of others. Strong mathematical skills and effective communication abilities in both English and Spanish are crucial for conveying technical information and collaborating with stakeholders.

Familiarity with standard office equipment and the use of computers and relevant software applications is essential for managing confidential records and reports. Above-average customer service skills are required to engage with the public tactfully and diplomatically, all while maintaining a safe working environment.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are :
