Investment Associate

Fiduciary Trust International is hiring an Investment Associate to join our office located at One Madison Avenue. The Investment Associate (IA) serves as a key partner to Portfolio Managers in all aspects of the investment process, including the design, execution, and ongoing management of client portfolios in alignment with the firm's investment policies and client-specific objectives. The role is expected to serve as training for junior investment professionals who are interested in developing a career in wealth management.

Core Responsibilities :

  • Collaborate with Portfolio Managers to define client investment goals and strategies
  • Execute trades and ensure accurate allocations per Portfolio Manager instructions
  • Conduct account reviews and recommend rebalancing or tactical adjustments
  • Prepare portfolio analytics and performance reports for client discussions
  • Assist in developing client-facing materials and proposal content
  • Monitor portfolios for risk factors and compliance issues
  • Support portfolio setup with benchmarks and performance composites

Strategic Responsibilities :

  • Independently manage smaller client accounts under firm guidelines
  • Conduct cash flow analyses and long-term wealth projections
  • Maintain awareness of client account activity for continuity
  • Assist in drafting and updating Investment Policy Statements (IPS)
  • Make informed decisions in cash management and discretionary actions
  • Contribute to client servicing and trade allocation strategies
  • Apply investment knowledge to support portfolio integrity and growth
  • Teams & Collaboration :

  • Work closely with Portfolio Managers and Client Service Administrators
  • Collaborate with the Performance Measurement team for accurate reporting
  • Support cross-functional efforts in client servicing and investment strategy
  • Engage with internal teams to ensure compliance and portfolio alignment
  • Contribute to meetings and discussions with clients and prospects
  • Coordinate with team members to maintain high service standards
  • Communicate insights across departments to inform investment decisions
  • What Will Help You Be Successful in This Role :

    Experience and Education :

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a quantitative field is required
  • 15 years in wealth management, asset management, or related financial services
  • Experience in a fiduciary environment is a plus
  • Progress toward or completion of the CFA designation desirable
  • Technical Skills :

  • Foundational understanding of financial markets, asset classes, and trade execution / allocation processes
  • Ability to conduct portfolio analytics, performance reporting, and cash flow projections
  • Proficient in calculating and interpreting key investment metrics
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and modeling
  • Working knowledge of portfolio management / trading systems (e.g., Charles River, Aladdin) and CRM software
  • Strong technological knowledge of tools like FactSet, Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters Eikon, Morningstar Direct
  • Soft Skills :

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to translate complex investment data into clear, client-facing reports and materials
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and portfolio compliance monitoring
  • High level of professional maturity, independence, and accountability
  • Strong desire for a long-term career in wealth management
  • This role requires on-site presence three to four days per week (One Madison Avenue, NYC).
