About The Position
Weekly Pay Range - $2958 To $3286 Job Title : Cath Lab / Special Procedures Tech Job Specialty : Cardiac Cath Department Job Duration : 13 weeks Shift : 8-hour day shifts Guaranteed Hours : 40 hours per week Experience : Minimum of 1 year as a Cath Lab Tech License : Licensed by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency Certifications : - Registered with the ARRT - Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association Must-Have : Knowledge of diagnostic radiology procedures and techniques Job Description : Perform cine, digital subtraction angiography, and other specialized radiologic procedures under sterile technique.
- Prepare examination area and position patients for procedures.- Operate complex radiology equipment in accordance with established techniques and ensure radiation safety guidelines are followed.
- Function as a scrub tech by preparing a sterile set-up and passing instruments to physicians during procedures.- Prepare patients for procedures, explain processes to alleviate apprehensions, and verify all required laboratory work is complete.
- Operate radiology equipment for diagnostic procedures, manipulating controls to obtain suitable exposures.- Transfer and archive images in the cardiac picture archival system, ensuring all images and exams are correctly stored in patient records.
- Perform minor equipment repairs and notify appropriate personnel of equipment malfunctions.- Monitor patient cardiovascular and pulmonary systems during procedures, recognize changes, and notify physicians of any issues.
- Attend mandatory department and medical center meetings and educational programs.- Develop positive working relationships with department personnel and assist in room preparation and clean-up.
- Meet on-call requirements including weekends, after-hours, and holidays.- Successfully complete the special procedure technologist competency.
Candidates must understand and comply with the drug-free campus policy and produce a negative drug screen for all panels.
