Summary
This position manages the physical operation of the branch / area in order to meet branch operating income objectives. This person reports to the Area Manager or Branch Manager, and they manage warehouse, administrative and Customer Sales & Service Representatives (CSSR's).
Essential Functions
- Manage day to day activities of all warehouse, driver, administrative and CSSR personnel.
- Ensure that inventory stock levels support branch sales and that inventory turns meet branch / area target levels.
- Ensure branch / area accounts receivable policy is consistent with and meets corporate objectives.
- Branch / Area operating income and EBITDA meets or exceeds budget.
- Branch / Area operates under performance based management throughout. This includes, but not limited to, establishing, monitoring and communicating service metrics throughout the branch.
- Establish programs to ensure that all employees can work in an environment safe from hazards.
- Administer corporate policies and best practices at the operations level with the branch / area.
- Establish purchasing programs to provide adequate inventory while striving to improve inventory turns.
- DSO improve within area 10% per year for three years.
- Customer satisfaction increases to industry leading position in 3 years.
- Skills and quality of organization increases to industry best practice level in 3 years.
- Set clear goals, objectives and plans to meet targets; track and initiate corrective action when required. Establish expectations for continuous improvement on an annual basis and challenge area organization to succeed.
- Develop benchmarks and implement best practices to exceed benchmark performance. Share best practices within and across areas.
- Lead and upgrade area organization by insuring development and training is in place for all personnel within area. Make sure performance appraisals are well prepared and used to develop personnel.
Provide effective coaching to progressively improve performance of warehouse, drivers, administrative personnel and CSSR's.
Establish local recognition / reward programs to improve morale.
- Provide leadership and demonstrate commitment to the company's mission, values and way of working by constant communication with warehouse and service personnel.
- Reduce receivables DSO's and increase inventory turns by supporting corporate collections effort and ensuring tight purchasing controls are implemented.
- Develop strong and proactive safety program by holding regular meetings to discuss proper procedures and processes. Set clear objectives and demand conformance to provide a safe work environment, while complying with all applicable government safety regulations.
- Ensure all operational certifications are current and in place in order to meet state, federal and corporate requirements.

- Understand how to use best practices and benchmarking to improve area performance and process improvement
