HonorVet Technologies is seeking a travel nurse RN CVICU for a travel nursing job in San Diego, California.

Unit Overview

  • Unit Name / Type : Cardiovascular PICU (CVPICU)
  • Location : San Diego, CA
  • Beds : 30
  • Patients : Neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults
  • Unit Style : High-acuity cardiac unit – keeps patients from intensive through intermediate care
  • Special Notes : 60% infants, 40% toddler–young adult; travelers do not take immediate post-op patients

    • Staffing & Ratios

  • Traveler Requirement : 2+ years recent Pediatric CVICU experience (children’s hospital required)
  • Float : Yes
  • Schedule : 12-hour variable shifts (Days / Nights)
  • Weekends : Every other; 6 shifts / month
  • Holidays : Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
  • Call : Required
  • Scheduling : Block scheduling

    • Patient Population & Diagnoses

  • Cardiac : Post-op cardiac surgical care, congenital heart disease / repair, heart transplant
  • Transition Care : ICU to step-down / intermediate care
  • Other : Cardiology patients, mixed high-acuity pediatric cases

    • Skills & Certifications

  • Required Certifications : BLS, ACLS, PALS
  • Critical Skills :

    • Hemodynamic monitoring, CVP, PAP line management

  • Dysrhythmia interpretation & management
  • ECMO, VADs (LVAD / RVAD), CRRT
  • Post-cardiac surgery, pacemaker, catheterization care
  • Ventilator management, trach care, chest tubes, HFNC, BiPAP / CPAP
  • IV therapy, central / PICC / arterial line management, blood products
  • Pediatric sedation, Broselow use, rapid response participation

    • Traveler Information

  • Experience Required : Minimum 2 years recent Pediatric CVICU experience (must be from a children’s hospital)
  • First-Time Traveler Accepted : No
  • Other Notes : Must have strong pediatric cardiac skills; previous children’s hospital experience required
