Job Details
- 13-week contract length for a Respiratory Therapist at CHI St Alexius Health Devils Lake Hospital.
- Duties include providing care for mostly adults, newborns, and ER patients of all ages with varying conditions including traumas.
- Responsible for adult ventilator management, ABGs, CPAP, BiPAP treatments, setting up and maintaining ventilators, and more autonomous with respiratory care plans.
- Need to have 3 years of Respiratory experience, with previous travel experience.
- Must be willing to learn if no newborn experience.
- Expected to be autonomous in developing and implementing respiratory care and treatment plans.
- Candidate will occasionally attend C-Sections and manage higher acuity patients with multiple comorbidities.
Job Requirements
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Verification required.
- At least 3 years of Respiratory experience needed.
- Previous travel experience preferred.
- Must have certifications including BLS, ACLS, RRT or CRT, and ND state license.
- Preferred certifications are NRP and PALS.
- Must have the ability to manage adult ventilators, perform ABGs, CPAP, BiPAP, and treatments.
- If no experience with newborns, must be willing to learn.
- Must be able to set up and maintain vents, expected not to perform intubations usually.
Schedule Information
- Shifts from 6am to 6pm including on-call post-shift for emergencies (6pm-6am).
- Potential for block scheduling and some flexibility, with staff collaborating on schedule creation.
- Every other weekend required, with the possibility of being less frequent.
- Expected to work some holidays during the contract.
- Call requirement enforced, with a call response time of 20 minutes.
Unit Specific Information
- Departments covered include ER, MS, and Newborn nursery.
- The respiratory department may call on the Respiratory Therapist for assist with non-compliant patients and to attend C-Sections occasionally.
- Expected to float only within the same hospital.
Additional Details
- Strong emphasis on teamwork.
- Experience with various respiratory equipment such as Volera, vents, BiPAP, high flow, and nasal cannula is necessary.
- Must follow a radius rule of 50 miles and not be associated with any facility related to CommonSpirit, including CHI and / or Dignity as a full time, part time, or PRN employee.
- RTO (Requested Time Off) needed upfront, with a maximum of 7 days per 13-week contract. Additional RTO will not be approved post-submission.
