JOB DESCRIPTION

The Resident Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the effective maintenance and repair of cooling towers at the Toledo Refining Company facility in Oregon, OH. This full-time, salaried position requires effective communication, organizational skills, and technical expertise.

The Resident Engineer will serve as the primary point of contact for the cooling tower maintenance program, working onsite at TRC daily. Responsibilities include identifying deficiencies, developing scopes of work, coordinating with OBR Sales Representatives to obtain pricing and proposals, and tracking the execution of all repair and maintenance activities. In collaboration with both TRC and OBR teams, the Resident Engineer will establish procedures and implement routine preventive maintenance strategies to promote safety and reliability.

This position will report to TRC management and work from the refinery (35) hours per week and report to the OBR Headquarters in Northwood, OH for remaining hours.

The successful candidate must possess a valid driver's license, pass a drug test, and undergo a background check.

ROLES / TASKS OF THE POSITION

  • Develop the TRC site-wide maintenance and repair program.
  • Collaborate with TRC Management to establish the program objectives.
  • Work closely with OBR Sales Reps to help develop program goals, requirements, and processes.
  • Collaborate with TRC Safety to refine and manage safety standards and procedures for cooling tower inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Provide technical and operational guidance and recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain cooling tower program repair and maintenance schedules.
  • Collect, organize, and maintain inspection, maintenance, and repair records.
  • Generate scope of work packages with bills of material for repair and rebuild projects.
  • Perform QC duties for cooling tower maintenance and repair projects.
  • Serve as the liaison between TRC operations, maintenance, management, and engineering personnel to achieve program objectives.
  • Communicate needs and requests for service to OBR sales and project management groups.
  • Coordinate solutions to address issues / challenges presented during maintenance and repair projects.
  • Receive and review technical and commercial submittals.
  • Identify and resolve conflicts within design and construction; create contingency plans when necessary.
  • Coordinate periodic program business review(s) to continuously improve the program to set and achieve objectives.
  • Follow and enforce OBR and TRC safe work practices during all activities.
  • Perform other duties as directed by OBR and TRC management.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • B.S. Engineering, mechanical, structural, or chemical preferred.
  • 2-3 years' experience working in industrial facilities.
  • Advanced organizational skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Computer literate and competent using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Experienced using AutoCAD and / or Inventor preferred.
  • Cooling tower or other heat exchange experience preferred.
  • Self-driven with willingness to learn and contribute.
  • PREREQUISITES / REQUIREMENTS :

  • Negative 10 panel urinalysis and breath alcohol test.
  • Valid Driver's License and Proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • Background check.
