About the Role
Under the leadership of the U.S. Soccer Foundation’s Director, Coach-Mentor Training , the Manager, Coach-Mentor Training is responsible for scaling the delivery of quality training events and products to 100,000 coaches and mentors by 2030.
This position is integral in maintaining the Foundation’s role as a national leader in the sports-based youth development space.
The position requires attention to detail, initiative, excellent communication skills, the ability to manage teammates, consultants, and partnerships, and the ability to function independently with minimal supervision.
Travel up to 30% of the schedule is often required. Work on evenings, weekends, and holidays is sometimes required.
About the Team
The Programs Department is responsible for operating, improving, and scaling the U.S. Soccer Foundation’s child-centered programs, namely our flagship Soccer for Success, Coach-Mentor Training , and Just Ball programs, to ensure that the Foundation remains at the forefront of the sports-based youth development (SBYD) field.
This work involves following the latest SBYD best practices to innovate and tailor our curricula and training to meet the unique needs of underserved communities across the country.
Designing and deploying pathways to scale, this team is responsible for driving the adoption of the Soccer for Success program and coach-mentor training methodology in youth serving marketplaces across the country.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain partnerships with key collaborators in the field, building national, state, and local-level relationships that lead to on-going adoption of resources and trainings
- Lead the pipeline development strategy for coach education and training offerings
- Lead and / or contribute to the development of content and the delivery of trainings
- Represent the Foundation and its interest at local, regional, or national events
- Oversee the onboarding, assignments, and payment processes for the consultant network that conducts trainings
- Lead the efficient logistics, technical support, and data collection of trainings
- Lead the graphic design elements and marketing assets of the products and services for the program, including marketing flyers, routine content updates, and program impact reports
- Lead the marketing strategy for Coach-Mentor Training, in conjunction with marketing, to effectively advertise and promote the program
- Implement changes across programs and / or departments to increase efficiencies
- Annually contribute to one of three committees at the Foundation aligned with DEI, Foundation retreat planning, or Culture Crew
- Other duties as assigned
About You
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of professional experience in a leadership role in youth development programming
- Specific knowledge in content area(s) related to sport for development trainings, including but not limited to youth work, health equity, sport for development, conflict resolution, and / or social entrepreneurship
- Demonstrated experience in planning and executing training and professional development events
- Demonstrated knowledge of issues impacting children and families, specifically in underserved communities
- Demonstrated experience in valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive and culturally responsive working and learning environment
- Ability to empathetically manage multiple projects and work assignments with multiple partners with diverse perspectives, utilizing a strong attention to detail
- Experience managing teammates, consultants, and partnerships
- Self-starter, exhibiting a strong work ethic, ability to maximize work with minimal oversight
- Strong oral, written, research, and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to provide and receive feedback in consistent ways
- Understanding of and commitment to the U.S. Soccer Foundation mission
- Proficiency in Microsoft, Salesforce, Absorb, Zoom, Canva, and other online platforms
- Ability to travel up to 30% of schedule, to include nights, weekends, and holidays
Desired Requirements
- Experience designing and leading training(s) in varied settings
- Program and project management experience
- Experience in initiatives empowering under-represented communities, including but not limited to girls and women, Indigenous Peoples, refugees and immigrants, LGBTQ+, persons with disabilities, and racial, ethnic, and linguistic minorities
- Bilingual in Spanish
