The Director of Operations - Great Lakes Industrial will oversee and optimize our manufacturing and distribution processes.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in operations management within the industrial sector, with a proven track record of driving operational excellence, implementing process improvements, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

As the Director of Operations grows, he / she will develop long-standing relationships with our customers, vendors, management team, warehouse employees and outside reps as well as become an expert in a variety of different product lines GLI offers.

Essential Functions :

• Strategic Planning : Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize manufacturing and distribution operations, aligning with company goals and objectives.
• Process Improvement : Lead initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall operational performance.

Identify opportunities for automation and technology integration to streamline processes.

• Capital Expense Planning : Recommend CapEx expenses with favorable ROI and be able to execute and integrate.
• Supply Chain Management : Oversee the end-to-end supply chain, including procurement, inventory management, production scheduling, and logistics, to ensure timely delivery of products to customers while minimizing costs.
• Quality Control : Establish and maintain rigorous quality control standards throughout the manufacturing process. Implement measures to ensure product quality meets or exceeds customer expectations.
• Team Leadership : Provide strong leadership and direction to the operations team, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous learning.

Mentor and develop staff to build a high-performing team.

Safety and Compliance : Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and standards, creating a safe working environment for employees.

Stay abreast of industry regulations and best practices related to manufacturing and distribution.

• Budget Management : Develop and manage the operations budget, monitoring expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and service levels.
• Vendor Relations : Cultivate strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure reliable and cost-effective sourcing of materials and components.

Requirements

The Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain or equivalent experience required
• Masters degree preferred
• 10+ years in an operations or supply chain role or equivalent
• Excellent PC computer skills MS Word, Office and advanced skills in Excel, Power BI, CRM software, SQL a plus

Certificates & Licenses : In order to satisfy proper product knowledge requirements he / she must complete all vendor training programs as needed.

Additionally, he / she must have or obtain a driver's license to follow career pathing into sales department.
